WELS Men’s Retreat Registration

Be a Man after God’s Own Heart!
Real men love Jesus, and are loved by Jesus. Be a man and believe that God equips you with deep, powerful gifts and callings. Be a man and practice biblical spiritual leadership of self and others. God pursues this for you in your life! Just like David. “The Lord has sought out a man after his own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). This is the theme of the retreat.

LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS are included in the price, and offer everything from camping, to cabins, to private queen bed suites. Roommates can be selected. Once you submit your registration, you secure lodging and then a retreat representative will contact you about your preferences. There is limited availability of preferred lodging options, so register early!

ARRIVAL TIME for the retreat is Friday, January 16 from 3-5pm. Please plan to arrive during this time and not later. This allows all participants to settle in, get acquainted and be ready for opening ceremonies! Also, make travel plans in order to stay until the closing ceremonies of the retreat on Sunday, January 18 concluding at 12 Noon; please don’t leave early. If exceptional circumstances make this impossible, enter comments on your registration form and the retreat team will respond.

BIBLE STUDIES AND PRESENTATIONS: The retreat will feature 4 top notch presenters who will open up the Bible and meaningful conversations about timely topics. All participants will be able to attend the 4 presentations. They are:

• Fishing: Faith Receives What God Has To Offer – Living as a man of God in our world calls for faith. Some would demand a man-sized faith, while others take comfort in faith the size of a mustard seed. For this, Jesus calls us to go fishing. We will bait our hearts with God’s Word together to anticipate a marvelous catch. 

• Taboo: Topics Christians Should Be Talking About But Don't – The topics we will be discussing in this session may be difficult to talk about. These may even be considered “taboo” amongst Christian circles. The discussion will be based on the book “Taboo” that was developed by Mike Novotny, a WELS pastor who writes for Time of Grace Ministry. 

• A Newbie’s Guide to Resilient Recovery Ministries – Recovery ministries became for one WELS church “the single biggest way our church has for reaching people with little to no background in the Christian faith.” You will receive a basic introduction to this ministry and see an example of how the church can evangelize within this current culture in a solidly Lutheran way. Go back to your church with an understanding of how recovery ministry works and what a typical meeting looks like.

• “Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe the World” – Based on Admiral McRaven's viral graduation speech that garnered over 10 million YouTube views, this book shares ten principles from Navy SEAL training that can help anyone overcome challenges and achieve more in life.
